  • Shadow World Boat

    Shadow World Boat

A traditional wooden fishing boat stranded in the intertidal zone, aka local dry dock. While we were filming in Myanmar I fell in love with shadows and became a little obsessed with them. Especially when viewed from above and during the mid morning and mid afternoon sun, shadows can be almost perfect two dimensional representations of their 3D Counterparts. Most, however, are stretched and bend imperfect creative simplifications of their creator. Watching them calms me, it is like a short break or escape from an overwhelming reality and instead is fueling my inner child’s imagination ...giving me the chance to breath and daydream... and as long as the sun shines shadows will be born anew everyday as ever changing shapes, and if they are lucky the wind will make them dance and someone will notice, stop, take a breath and appreciate their multidimensional performance. Welcome to the shadow world.

  • Orange Lake

    Orange Lake

Just an island in a lake in remote Western Australia. The orange and pink colors of these lakes are caused by green algae blooms of Dunaliella salina and the archaea Halobacterium cutirubrum.

  • Salt Lakes Outback Australia

    Salt Lakes Outback Australia

A salt lake in the outback of Western Australia. These lakes only fill up when it rains (and that doesn’t happen often at all) and water flows into them, creating these beautiful saltwater oasis with sunken trees

  • Ocean Tree

    Ocean Tree

This channel was almost invisible during high tide but during low tide it revealed this amazing channel formation that reminded me of a tree growing on a rock face. This incredible blue/turquoise colour is a result of sunlight being scattered by bright fine sediment particles which are suspended in the water (making the water look cloudy/milky) as well as white sands on the bottom of the channel.

  • Wetland Dream

    Wetland Dream

Aerial images of wetlands, nothing compares to it. Every image is unique as the landscape is alive with plants and changing water levels alter their patterns, ever changing at a fast pace.

  • Bommie Paradise!

    Bommie Paradise!

Visible from outer space, the Great Barrier Reef is with a length of 2300 km the largest living structure on our planet. Comprised of thousands of reefs, this extensive ecosystem is home to countless & highly diverse marine species from tiny plankton, mollusks and fish to large predators such as sharks. Furthermore, It provides shelter to whales and their young and scientists derive biochemical compounds from marine organisms to develop better, more effective or yet not existing medicine.
