Kookaburra Street Light

Kookaburras (blue-winged male Kookaburra (Dacelo leachii)) are beautiful and amazing birds (although a little cheeky at times) native to northern Australia and southern New Guinea. Its silhouette in front of a streetlight reminded me how much we must have influenced their natural behavior.. providing them, at least visually, hunting opportunities at night.

Green Tree Ant

Green Tree Ants (Oecophylla smaragdina) are also known as weaver ants because they weave leaves together into a nest. The Larvae inside the nest as well as the green abdomen of the green ants is edible and tastes like lime with a hint of mint. In order to protect their nests ect. they go into defense position and then attack by biting and subsequently secreting acid into the wound.
